February Birchbox and Some Sad News

I have been MIA lately due to some sad happenings on the homefront. We recently had to put our dog Laren down. I don't care to get into details, but it was incredibly hard and I've been pretty upset the last couple of weeks. We buried her right next to Spike and I know they are together wherever they may be playing and having fun.

February's Birchbox was a bit disappointing at first, but as the month progressed I'm finding that I actually use a couple of the products regularly and to me that is the sign of a job well done.

Tigi Catwalk Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo - I have tried dry shampoos before  and so far I haven't found one that gives me the results that I see all over the internet. My hair is a combination of oily scalp and dry ends and utter ridiculousness. For the past several months I've been trying to train my hair to not need to be washed everyday but I have given up on that. Of all the dry shampoos and other fancy things I've tried for my hair, this Tigi dry shampoo is my favorite. It lasts longer than the others and smells lovely. It doesn't last the whole second day that I haven't washed my hair but nothing does. This is great for little pick me ups or if I just want to make my hair smell nice.

Juicy Couture Couture La La - I am not a perfume girl. Most make me sneeze and give me headaches and make me break out in a rash. Couture La La smells nice enough, but I can't really see myself wearing it that often. I didn't have any adverse reactions to it, but I'm just so weary of perfumes that I tend to stay away from them.

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint - I have received a few samples of this and I don't mind getting it, but I was a little bummed to see it once again. I've used this tint a couple times before and it's nice, but I don't wear any sort of foundation most of the time. These multiple little tubes floating around in my makeup bag eventually will be used.

Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator - This is my favorite item in this month's box. It is a dermatological-grade facial scrub with some sort of papaya enzyme and wee little exfoliating microbeads. I have never used a scrub like this and I am so impressed! It feels extra scrubby on a micro-level (if that makes sense) and I'm a fan of scrubs that feel like your peeling layers of skin off. Why scrub if you don't have that sensation? (Yeah, I'm weird.) The first time using this I saw an obvious difference. My skin is smoother and brighter. I also noticed that using this (in combination with a couple of other skin products) up to and during that time of the month really helped with the breakouts that I always get when my hormones start going insane. I will be purchasing this soon!

Ghirardelli Square Caramal - Yum! Who doesn't love these?

With my last order from Birchbox, I also got a Pick 2 Sample extra (for free!) and received a little tube of Hand!Spa Lotion and a packet of argan oil. I have another little bottle of argan oil that I have been using so I wasn't terribly excited about the little packet. I will occasionally argan oil up the old face and I use it quite a bit on my upper eyelids, right below my eyebrows. The skin in that area tends to get very dry and flaky and the argan oil really helps. I'm afraid to use it all over my face too often because I have pretty oily skin, but every once in awhile seems to be okay. The Hand!Spa lotion is nice, it smells light and it has some sort of acid thats suppose to do something, but honestly I've been too lazy to do research. The bottle is small enough to fit nicely in my (enormous) purse. These weren't the greatest samples but they weren't the worst either.

I will try to not be so late with March's Birchbox. Hopefully life will cut me a break and things will go smoother than they have the last couple of weeks.
